Xander mimicked Spike's words back to him sarcastically, still a little freaked by the whole magic thing so was not quite in the mindset for creative quips, which of course would only be wasted on the bleached menace.

"Riiiight and keeping the peace means checking up on Buffy?" He had no doubt why Spike was there, especially since Xander had every faith that if something was wrong by her own hut, Buffy would be able to handle it.
