Spike had done his best to keep up with a definitely not himself Xander the night before, trying to prevent him from doing something he'd regret when all this mess was over, but he'd lost track of him at some point. He'd spent more than an hour searching for him before finally accepting defeat and returning to his cave for some restless sleep before resuming his search today.
When he did find Xander, finally, he stopped and stared, not saying anything for a minute. The sight was an attractive one to say the least. He gathered himself and stepped to the water's edge, clearing his throat and steeling himself for the new, strange version of Xander.
